Logitech G and Herman Miller have announced an exclusive partnership to deliver new high-performance furniture for gamers. The two companies will work together on the research, design, and manufacturing of the new collection. A gaming chair launching in the spring of 2020 will be the first product in this collection.
Chief Marketing Officer at Logitech G, Peter Kingsley commented on the deal:
Logitech G is committed to creating the best gear for gamers. We make that possible through a unique collaboration process between our design and engineering teams, partners and our customers to translate needs and capabilities into products that gamers love. Herman Miller was the obvious choice for us to partner with given their more than 100 years of expertise. Together we will deliver amazing products with advanced ergonomics, comfort, and performance that gamers deserve.
Herman Miller brings their unique value to esports
Esports competitors often report dealing with injuries in their hands, wrists, neck, and back because of long training hours. As a result, injury prevention and ergonomics in esports have become an important topic in recent years. Herman Miller wants to leverage its expertise in ergonomics design to help address these issues. The two companies will work with esports organizations like Team SoloMid (TSM), Complexity Gaming, and Natus Vincere to get player feedback and test new products.
“At Herman Miller, we have a rich history of designing solutions to support people wherever they live and work,” said Tim Straker, Herman Miller’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re excited to combine our ergonomic, research-driven approach with Logitech G’s excellence in technology and innovation. Together, we’ll develop high-quality solutions that provide gamers and esports athletes with the utmost support and comfort.”
Above all, Herman Miller seems to be very focused on using their ergonomics expertise to help esports athletes and gamers. Herman Miller first entered esports last year via a partnership with Complexity Gaming. In addition to sponsoring their innovation lab, they collaborated on content focusing on injury prevention in esports. Hopefully, this inspires other companies entering esports to think about what unique value they can bring to the industry.
