American lifestyle brand and lighter company Zippo has announced a partnership with members of esports organization NRG Esports. This non-endemic sponsorship revolves around the Zippo HeatBank 9s Rechargeable Hand Warmer, the first gaming performance product from the company.
Zippo partners with NRG Esports
“Zippo has always created performance products that last the distance – from our original Zippo windproof lighters to our new HeatBank 9s Rechargeable Hand Warmer,” William Kolasa, senior director of integrated marketing communications at Zippo, said in a release. “It features up to 9 hours of heat and can power USB devices like headsets, controllers and phones, all essential to esports and gamers in general.”
“We’re really excited to be working with NRG teammates Dizzy, Ace, and Mohr – three players at the top of their game – to launch the limited edition NRG x Zippo HeatBank 9s Rechargeable Hand Warmer. This is the first step in a bigger commitment to providing gamers with the ultimate accessories to power their play.”
The rechargeable ergonomically designed hand warmer will allow gamers to warm their hands between matches. The performance peripheral features nine hours of warmth, six heat settings, and doubles as a portable charger. Compared to disposable hand warmers commonly used by esports players, Zippo hopes gamers will spend more on a reusable product.
The partnership will see the release of a limited edition branded HeatBank 9s product, with a current price of US$59.95. This is a small hike from the normal design’s usual price tag of US$49.95. In addition, the players will be advertising the collectible products on their Twitch channels; content will also be created around the Zippo product, along with giveaways being hosted for viewers.
